A Women-Led Movement for Nutrition, Health & Livelihood
When women in the tribal villages of Jhabua and Alirajpur discussed their families’ greatest challenge, illness stood out—and poor nutrition was a leading cause. So they chose to become the solution.
In 2019, Shivganga launched Arogya Van, inspiring every family to nurture 15 fruit-bearing and medicinal plants around their home for nutrition, natural healthcare, and a greener future.
- 17,000 families have established their own Arogya Vans.
- 2,19,000+ plants have been nurtured.
Each year, women leaders from Shivganga’s Village Leadership Journey mobilise families across their villages. Each family contributes ₹100 as a symbol of ownership, and Shivganga provides 15 plants.
Our Goal this year
This year, Shivganga aims to help 10,000 more families begin their Arogya Van journey. ₹750 helps one family establish an Arogya Van with a complete set of 15 fruit-bearing and medicinal plants.

A Mothers Story
For Kanta Damor of Bawdibadi village, Arogya Van became a turning point.
Her daughter Sunita was suffering from calcium deficiency. Kanta joined the movement and planted moringa, mulberry, mango, guava, and other fruit-bearing trees around her home. Over the years, these became part of her family's daily diet. Looking back, Kanta believes that the nutritious food grown in her own backyard played an important role in improving Sunita's health.
Today, Kanta's orchard feeds not only her family but also children from across the village. As a community leader, she inspires women from her village and neighbouring villages to establish their own Arogya Vans.
One mother's journey has inspired many more.
